LAURIE LIEBERMAN

Laurie Lieberman's current body of work represents her exploration of color, texture, form and space. These pieces express her interest in both the properties of glass and her relationship with nature. To Lieberman, color is as important as form. Her use of contrasting colors and bold color applications cause constant visual movement. Lauries's career in design assists her color decisions, while her background in sculpture and many years of experience in glass gives her a vast vocabulary of applications and techniques. When asked about her work, Lieberman states, "I am constantly experimenting with different color combinations and the effect of both opaque and translucent glass along with the effect that powdered glass, sandblasting and acid etching has on the surface." In addition, she has always been intrigued by the fluidity of glass and what it takes to create her work. Laurie describes blowing glass as, "a finely choreographed dance between her and her team." Lieberman's body of work is an inter-connective group with aesthetic and visual relationships.
